Bob Gates, EVP Operations

From 1992 through 2010, Bob was the Station Manager for 10 hydroelectric stations that make up CT Hydro, currently owned by FirstLight Power/GDF Suez, and formerly owned by Northeast Generating Services and the Connecticut Light and Power Company.  He was also the Station Manager for 2 combustion turbine power stations.  Bob managed operations, maintenance, engineering, land management, licensing, regulatory compliance, and public relations for the plants.  He worked closely with the commercial bidding and scheduling arm of Houston, Texas based GDF SUEZNA to comply with New England ISO rules and to develop generation protocols for value creation.

Bob served on the leadership team for the development of the 100 megawatt Waterbury Generation Project. He served as the Project Manager for the relicensing of the Housatonic River and Scotland Hydroelectric Projects. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Norwich University and subsequently served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Bob holds an EMBA from the University of New Haven.
