Kekawaka Creek (CA)

Kekawaka

The Kekawaka power station is a 4,950-kilowatt hydroelectric generating station located on the Kekawaka Creek near the town of Zenia, California.  Water flow to the facility is diverted from the creek through a 13,600-foot penstock which is connected to a single horizontal Pelton turbine unit. The facility produces more than 9 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year.  The Kekawaka facility was commissioned in 1989 and operates under a license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC Project No. 7120) which expires in 2036.
