Oconto Falls Hydro Facilities

Oconto River

Eagle Creek owns and operates two facilities on the Oconto River in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. Oconto Falls upper is a standalone hydroelectric facility, while Oconto Falls Lower is integrated with the ST Paper mill in Oconto Falls. Together, the two facilities produce over 13 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year.

The Oconto Falls Upper facility is a 1,320-kilowatt hydroelectric generating station located on the Oconto River in the town of Oconto Falls, Wisconsin.  The facility is equipped with two Leffel horizontal units and one Samson horizontal turbine unit.  The facility produces approximately 7 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year.  The Oconto Falls Upper facility began commercial operation in 1915 and operates under a license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC Project No. 2523) that is valid until 2027.

The Oconto Falls Lower facility is a 1,810-kilowatt hydroelectric generating station located on the Oconto River in the town of Oconto Falls, Wisconsin.  The facility is equipped with two turbine units.  The facility produces approximately 7 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year.  The Oconto Falls Lower facility operates under a license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC Project No. 2689) that is valid until 2024.
