Newport

The Newport power station is a 1,960-kilowatt hydroelectric generating station located on the West Canada Creek in the town of Newport, New York. The site contains two mini-pit turbines and one Flygt minimum flow unit with the capacity to produce approximately 7.2 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year. The Newport facility began commercial operation in 1988 and operates under an exempt license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC Project No. 5196).
