Fox River System Hydro Facilities

Eagle Creek operates 681 kilowatts of hydroelectric capacity in 3 facilities on the Fox River in Wisconsin and its tributaries.

Shawano
Shawano

The Shawano Paper Mills Dam power station is a 360-kilowatt hydroelectric generating station located on the Wolf River in Richmond Township, opposite the city of Shawano, Wisconsin, adjacent to the Little Rapids mill.  The facility is equipped with two Leffel turbines.  The Shawano power station produces approximately 3 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year.  The facility began commercial operation in 1913 and operates under an exempt license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC Project No. 8015).

White River
White River

The White River power station is a 150-kilowatt hydroelectric generating station located on the White River between the city of Wautoma and the village of Neshkoro, Wisconsin.  The facility is equipped with one Leffel turbine.  The White River power station produces approximately 1 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year. The facility was originally built in 1924. North American Hydro rehabilitated the unit and returned it to service in 1979.

Appleton
Appleton

Eagle Creek's Appleton power station is a 151-kilowatt hydroelectric generating station located on the Fox River in the city of Appleton, Wisconsin, just downstream from the location of the first commercial hydroelectric power plant in the United States.  The facility is equipped with one Leffel turbine.  The Appleton power station produces approximately 1 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year.   It was rehabilitated by North American Hydro and returned to commercial service in 1990.  The facility is part of a larger Appleton hydroelectric plant that includes two powerhouses owned by Neenah Paper.  Eagle Creek's Appleton station is the northernmost of the three, drawing water from a canal that runs along Water Street in Appleton.  The collective facilities operate under a license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC Project No. 7264) that is valid until 2035.
