Winnipesaukee River Facilities

Winnipesaukee River

Eagle Creek owns and operates four run-of-river hydroelectric facilities on the Winnipesaukee River in New Hampshire. From upstream to downstream, these include Lakeport, Lochmere, Clement Dam, and Stevens Mill Dam. Together, these facilities supply the New England power grid with 25 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy.

Lakeport Hydro Station
Lakeport

The Lakeport power station is a 705-kilowatt hydroelectric plant located on the Winnipesaukee River near the town of Lakeport, New Hampshire. It is located on the State of New Hampshire's Lakeport Dam, which regulates the water level in Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in New Hampshire. The State directs operations of the facility in order to manage lake levels. The facility’s three turbine/generator units produce approximately 2.4 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year. The Lakeport facility began commercial operation in 1984.

Lochmere
Lochmere

The Lochmere power station is a 1,000-kilowatt hydroelectric plant located on the Winnipesaukee River in the village of Lochmere, within the city limits of Tilton, New Hampshire. The dam is located at the outlet of Winnisquam Lake on the State of New Hampshire's Lochmere Dam. The facility is equipped with four Flygt submersible turbine/generator units producing approximately 4.1 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year. The Lochmere facility began commercial operation in 1986.

Clement Dam
Clement Dam

The Clement Dam power station is a 2,400-kilowatt hydroelectric plant located on the Winnipesaukee River in the town of Tilton, New Hampshire. The facility includes a dam across the river, a partially-buried penstock, and a powerhouse 200 feet downstream on the north bank. The powerhouse contains one horizontal Kaplan turbine and generator producing approximately 11 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year. The Clement Dam facility began commercial operation in 1984.

Stevens Mill Dam
Stevens Mill Dam

The Stevens Mill Dam facility is a 1,936-kilowatt hydroelectric plant located on the Winnipesaukee River in the town of Franklin, New Hampshire. This facility comprises two independent powerhouses. The first, known as the Bow Street power station or sometimes the Stevens Mill power station, contains one turbine generator rated at 236 kilowatts. The second, known as the River Bend power station, contains one turbine generator rated at 1,700 kilowatts. Bow Street power station discharges immediately downstream of the dam and maintains water levels in the river through the town of Franklin, while River Bend power station uses excess flows at the dam and discharges downstream of the center of town. Collectively, the Stevens Mill Dam facility produces approximately 7.4 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in a typical year. The Stevens Mill Dam facility began commercial operation in 1985.
